30 Days of Fire – Day 7

Element of Fire Activity

IN•SPI•RA•TION – the process of being mentally stimulated to do or feel something, especially to do something creative.

Inspiration is how fire is ignited and sets off in the world.  The mantra for the Element of Fire is simple

“Create . . . Explore . . . Expand”

Inspiration often starts with a DREAM. When the dream becomes a VISION it gains power and momentum. Have you ever heard some one say “they have fire in their belly?” That is a perfect way to describe the element of Fire moving with passion. The element of Fire is the catalyst that energizes you to turn your dreams into your reality.

For some, it easy to dream about the future. For others dreaming about the future might seem like something that was left behind in childhood. You remember . . . playing make-believe or house. I remember the countless hours I played dress up in my playhouse with friends. When I was five it was easy for me to tell anyone what I was going to be when I grew up, how I was going to change the world and what my community and family looked like. None of my play dates told me it wasn’t possible so I could dream for hours. Others just played along adding their own spin and their personal dream of their future.

Then we grow up and the fun and joy of imagining and dreaming about the future disappears. Our mind gets busy remind us of why it isn’t possible and can easily find flaws in the plan. You see being an adult can put a damper on how much actual time we allow for just dreaming and being creative. So today find time to turn down your practical, methodical, planning and thinking side and just

DREAM

Take a few moments now to think about who you are, what you like to do, how you imagine your future. Reflect on the qualities and experiences that bring you joy, passion and warm your heart. Do nothing more then turn up your imagination and dream. Think about how fun the world looks. Imagine how excited you would feel if each morning when you wake up you knew that today you will be on a journey to live your dreams.

Today’s Creative Play Activity

DREAM BOARDS

This is a fun and simple activity that I do several times a year.  In fact the pictures attached to this email is one of my Dream Boards.  To start gather the following supplies:

  • Small cardboard square
  • Old magazines and pictures
  • Scissors
  • Glue

Then, cut out pictures, words and symbols that represent your dreams and inspirations.  Next, glue the images on you’re cardboard square. Finish by naming the dream board and dating it.  Then find a place at your office or home to put your dream board where you will be able to see it each day.  Then use your Dream Board as a way to keep yourself inspired and focused on your vision for your future.

30 Days of Fire – Day 6

element of fire

Now we have gotten a few of the basics about the element of Fire out of the way, it is time to start to investigate where and how fire shows up in your life. Fire is the element of desire, innovation and truth.  It is the part of you that lights up with passion or inspires you to keep going.  Fire creates your capacity for gut thinking and trusting your intuition.

Like with everything, there is a positive and shadow side to the element of fire. So today spend some time reflecting, observing and getting curious about your personal fire story and how it has created your comfort with using this energy.

Today’s Concepts to Ponder:

Grab your favorite journal or big piece of paper and crayons

FIRST

Reflect on each of the words below describe how the word makes you feel.
POWER
COURAGE
CHANGE
LEADERSHIP

SECOND

Begin to identify your personal fire story that created the feelings associated with the words.  Take some time to think about both when you were powerful, showed courage, initiated change or were in a leadership role – along with times you experienced these fire qualities from another.  Next, imagine how you would like to feel and experience the words.

THIRD

Using what you have discovered, create an Up Until Now statement to redefine each of the words above towards your intention.  For example, “ Up until now change felt scary.  Today, my intention is to see change as a chance to be creative and try new things.”

Practice using your “Up Until Now” statements regularly to create a new Fire Story that represents the future you want to cultivate for yourself.  Changing your story and building your arsenal of experiences will move you from being anchored in your old stories and habitual habits and evolve your world to mirror your new relationship with the element of Fire.

30 Days of Fire – Day 5

Fire Element Provides Energy

The element of Fire is filled with energy.  Without energy you might find it hard to focus, be creative or achieve the change you are working on.  Cultivating the element of fire includes building that fire in your belly that keeps you going.

When energy is flowing it actually can help you keep a clear mind and have the fortitude to see things with a new light.  So instead of reaching for an energy shot, try out these simple ways to boost your energy and build the energetic gift of the fire element.

  1. Get Moving.  Make sure include physical activity each day. Studies show that in as little as 10 minutes of physical activity your energy will be revved up.
  2. Get Happy.  Did you know a good laugh can get you pumped up when you’re feeling sluggish?  Laughter is a proven stress buster and has been shown to boost your heart rate and safely raise your blood pressure.
  3. Let the Sun In.  Environmental cues such as getting a little sunlight play a huge role in our body’s energy.  So open your curtains or go outside for a short walk to build your vitamin D and feel more alive.
  4. Yawn.  According to research yawning is your body’s way of cooling down the brain and waking it up.
  5. Stretch.  Reach for the sky and gently arch your back.  This type of stretch stimulates the sympathetic nervous system and energizing for the body and mind. Studies show that a little yoga could fight depression and anxiety.
  6. Eat chocolate.  Even though chocolate does have some caffeine the Flavonoids found in cocoa have been shown to boost cognitive skills and improve mood.
  7. Sing.  Singing requires breath control.  So when you sing to the radio out loud while driving you get plenty of extra oxygen pumping and feel energized.
  8. Add a Little Color.  Surround yourself with red.  Studies have shown the color red is associated with winning and self-confidence.  Try looking at or wearing some red or violet hues to feel more awake.

30 Days of Fire – Day 4

Element of Fire

If you haven’t guessed by now Fire is the element of change and transformation.  Fire both creates and destroys.  There is no way about it- when fire is hot- it is honest, righteous and passionate about truth.  Fire creates new possibility and is the element of inspiration, creativity and the catalyst for transformation.  Fire doesn’t burn its self out, rather it may be smoldering in the background gaining energy to go head first into life’s next adventure.  Those who have had ample fire as a child become self-conscious as they have seen where they have burned people or felt the sting of being a forgotten star.

Evolved fire pays attention to what has heart and meaning.  As fire matures, it knows how not to burn everything in its path but rather to walk with courage into the flames with an open heart and faith knowing what is next is perfect and meant to be.  Fire people have a love for life and know that rage and anger used proactively with consciousness is the catalyst for transformational change.
